A Hilo-based organization that promotes the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people recently became
the island's first official chapter of the national organization of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.
PFLAG Big Island-Hilo in April became part of the larger parent 501(c)(3) organization, said Janno Scheer, the group's president.
